HOSTING IN AUTUMN?
HERE ARE SOME GREAT TIPS TO
SPRUCE UP YOUR HOME.

Tis the season for indoor festivities. With your barbeque put away, but numerous social gatherings filling up your calendar, it’s time to take a look at some of the changes you can make to your home to wow a crowd. Whether you’re preparing for your fifth or sixth family thanksgiving meal, organizing an adult Halloween party, or just having friends over for a nice weekend meal, we’re going to provide you with the tool and tips to impress them all.

BRING THE OUTSIDE IN
Everyone loves fall colours, so why not use them to inspire your entry way? A natural, fall-inspired entrance made with leaves and branches from your own garden can make quite the statement to your guests as they walk in. Bigger and more impressive than your standard floral arrangement, this combination can be sculpture-like in scope and really add something extra as your guests arrive.

LAYERS = WARMTH
The key to a warm fall is layers. This is as true when designing your tablescape as it is when you go for a stroll outside. Start with neutral placemats and then try and add something with texture, like a woven charger. With the foundation set, it’s time to add some more natural elements like pumpkins and pinecones. If you feel like you’re setting is getting to in touch with nature, try adding something with sharp lines like geometric candlesticks.

FOCUS ON THE FLAME
Whether you use your fireplace or not, it’s a great focal point for your fall decorating. The family fireplace is especially valuable if you have a fireplace in the centre of your living room, it’s a great place to get creative. Make it pop by adding fresh greens to the mantle to contrast the warmer colours elsewhere in the room. If you want to get more creative, why not look at adding a mix of neutral decorative pillows? It’s special little details like this that can really catch the eye.

PUMPKIN SPICE UP YOUR KITCHEN
Since the most popular seasonal food is definitely pumpkin why not lean into the theme? You can incorporate the famous gourd into just about any element of your décor. Try items like a pumpkin-shaped terrine, easily found at most kitchen and home stores. Also, try to find other ways to utilize orange in your design. There is no wrong way to go about it. With orange as the focus, try and find natural stones, like a marble serving tray, and woods like a natural cutting board, to add dimension and bring an autumnal feeling to your kitchen countertops.

EASY IS KEY
For the guests and the host, a theme-decorated event is most enjoyable when the look is well-balanced. Make sure that your décor isn’t overdone and make sure that it’s easy for you and your guests to enjoy the party. Too much of anything is bound to have a negative impact on the event, so make sure to keep all of your party planning at a manageable amount.
